55+ at Hope Centre Conference in Ballymena

20160203_110421

The 55+ team were delighted to be asked to speak at the annual Hope Centre Conference, ‘Aiding Rexcove’, which took place at Tullyglass House Hotel in Ballymena on Wednesday 3 February. It was great to see so many new faces, and talk to community members in the Ballymena area about the 55+ service.

We also heard from our partner, Addiction NI, whose CEO, Thelma Abernethy informed the audience of the new research currently being undertaken to measure the impact of alcohol in the over 50s in the UK. We also heard from another CRUN partner and colleague, Amanda Elliott, Suicide Prevention Development Officer with NACN and CRUN, who told us about the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ to help aid recovery. Our old friends, the Voice of Recovery Singers, gave another inspiring performance and demonstrated that recovery from addiction IS achievable with the right help and support.
